Kava Kava Capsules

We have a very important piece of advice for consumers who are looking to buy kava kava capsules: Buyer Beware! Many kava capsules on the market contain no extract in them whatsoever and are simply products marketed by unscrupulous companies looking to make a quick buck on your ignorance. Don't let them! Shop around, be an informed consumer and make sure you purchase your kava capsules armed with this important information.

Kavalactones are one of the main active constituents of kava. Many manufacturers of kava supplying powder extract in capsules make them using only the most minute traces of kavalactones. Any kava capsule worth its weight will contain an extract of no less than 30% kavalactones, although we prefer an extract of at least 70% or more. Different vendors will offer kava kava capsules with various concentrations of kavalactone extract. The important thing when buying kava capsules is to avoid products that contain only powdered root, as these will not be effective. Indeed, the common impression that kava kava capsules are ineffective may be due to unscrupulous vendors selling capsules that contain mostly plain kava root, with little or no extract.

In today's fast-paced world, our customers appreciate the convenience that kava kava capsules provide. Taking kava in capsule form represents the ultimate in simplicity and ease of use, allowing you to experience the benefits of kava almost anywhere. All kinds of people use kava kava, from diplomats, athletes and other professionals managing the stress of a high-pressure job to shift workers who want to maintain a healthy sleep-wake cycle*. Like kava in any form, kava kava capsules can be used to help manage daily stress, support sleep and a healthy mood, or just to relax at the end of the day*. The best part is that you can take this highly portable form of kava with you wherever you go.

Keep in mind that kava kava capsules may take a bit longer to have an effect than a kava drink or paste. Also, capsules will not produce the same numbing of the tongue or mucus membranes as a kava brew. The numbing effect is usually taken as a sign of high-quality kava rich in kavalactones, but in the case of kava capsules, the kavalactones in the extract will not come into contact with the inside of your mouth and so will not produce this effect.

There is more than just one study that supports what we here at Kona Kava Farm have known all along; that not only is Hawaiian kava often the richest in kavalactones, but that the particular strain that we grow on our farm (with a chemotype of 4-2-6) is the richest of the Hawaiian varieties.

Kona Kava Farm is a small family-run business, and our kava is completely organic-- not many kava farmers can say the same. We grow a special strain of kava called Mahakea, which is known for its rich kavalactone content. We take great pride in caring for our plants. Our specialty, unlike most other farms, is organic kava, and it only takes one taste of our version of 'awa (the Hawaiian name for kava) to know that there is no comparison. We constantly rotate our crops, ensuring that the roots never rot or degrade in quality due to over-farming. Some parts of our farm may sit dormant for several years to regenerate the soil, preparing it for the conditions needed for our organic kava to flourish.

Be wary of companies who will not share the type and origin of their products; if they are not up front about where they get their product, there is probably a very good reason. Also, make sure that whomever you decide to buy your kava from, that the vendor is not simply making up false claims in relation to their product. We have our organic certifications, and offer them to any customer who asks for them. We are a family-run farm, so not only do we have photos of our farm, we have a verifiable address in Hawaii where our farm is actually located!

You can read about world famous athletes and dignitaries who regularly consume kava and participate in kava ceremonies in our Who's Makaira? section of our Kava Blog, which contains news of kava testing and its worldwide legal status in every corner of this wonderful world.
