MORE ON OUR KAVA DRINKS...
WE personally feel that there is quite a difference between non organic and organic kava. And in Hawaii, we feel that no other climate is as conducive to optimizing the richness of the kava plant than the Hawaiian clime. It has been recognized all through history that Prehistoric Polynesians introduced the kava plant to Hawaii early on. From there, thanks to the perfect climate, land conditions and cultivation methods, kava spread throughout Hawaii.
Only one taste of our version of 'awa (the Hawaiian name for kava) is all it takes to know that there is no comparison to non-organic kava root blends. To us, organic kava is more pure and free of harmful chemicals.
With such a large monthly volume, the roots never rot or degrade in quality. Some parts of caring farms may sit dormant for several years, to regenerate the soil, preparing it for the conditions needed for Kava to flourish. We look for growers who use only organic fertilizers on their farms, and don't treat the kava plants with chemical pesticides or herbicides.
Grown in mountain volcanic soil that's naturally rich in micronutrients, organic kava plants should be allowed to mature for at least four years. The mature roots are typically hand-harvested and laid out to dry in the brilliant Hawaiian sun, resulting in a finished product with a surprisingly smooth, sweet taste and a high kavalactone content.
